Dump cake with peaches is the best way to enjoy summer fruit. Make this cake recipe for dessert or a potluck!

Make this cake recipe for dessert or a potluck Dump Cake with Peach + Recipe Video
I have been really enjoying making simple dessert recipes this summer. And, one of my favorite types of easy desserts is a dump cake.

Want to make other dump cake recipes? I’ve got plenty of them!

All you need are five simple ingredients and a few minutes of your time for this Strawberry Dump Cake.

Or, my  Blueberry Dump Cake is honestly the easiest cake recipe you will ever make.

This Cherry Dump Cake uses cherry pie filling and is ready in just 50 minutes start to finish.

But, you can easily make this dump cake recipe with any type of canned pie filling including apple, pineapple, or pumpkin.

How to Make Dump Cake with Peaches

Dump Cake with Peaches is a very easy recipe made in one bowl, poured into a pan and canned peaches are poured over the top.

It doesn't get much easier than that. Well, my daughter has been making this cake since she was three, and that is one simple cake!

This peach dump cake is a little bit different than the traditional since I don't use a box of cake mix to start.

You make a simple cake batter and pour it into your prepared pan. Then, you spoon on the peaches, reserving the liquid.

Pour a mixture of the reserved liquid and your spices over the top and bake until the top is golden brown.

Of course, you can also make it with a box of prepared cake mix if you prefer.

Can you make the cake with frozen fruit?

You can make dump cake with peaches using frozen fruit. Defrost them first and drain the excess water.

Then, proceed with the original recipe. It also works just as well with peach pie filling instead of the canned peaches.

What you will need to make dump cake with peaches

You only need a few simple tools to make this recipe.

Difference between dump cake and a cobbler

Dump cake and cobbler are similar but there are a few key differences. In a dump cake, dry cake mix is poured over the top of the fruit filling.

In a cobbler, spoonfuls of prepared cake batter or biscuit dough are spooned over the top.

So, this recipe is similar to peach cobbler with cake mix. I guess you could call it a peach cobbler dump cake.

How to make dump cake in a Crockpot

You can easily make this dump cake with peaches in your Crockpot. Simply layer the ingredients in your Crockpot in the order given in the recipe.

Then, place the lid on and bake it on HIGH for two hours or on LOW for four hours. Spoon it out into bowls and serve.

This is a wonderful dessert to make on a busy night because it is so easy to make in so little time.

Should dump cake be refrigerated?

Dump cake is traditionally served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream.  So, you don't need to refrigerate it before it's served.

But, if you have leftovers, they should be refrigerated after being tightly covered. You can keep them in the refrigerator for three to four days.

To reheat your dump cake with peaches, simply place it in the microwave for a few minutes. Or, you can place it back in the oven until it is warmed through.

How long it takes to reheat will depend on how much you have left.

Recipe notes and tips

  • You can use your own fresh canned peaches or store-bought in this peach dump cake recipe.
  • You can short cut the recipe even more by placing the butter in the pan and put it in the oven until melted. Then proceed with the directions.

Serving suggestions

The best way to eat this dessert is warm, with a big scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream on top! But, some people also enjoy it with a scoop of whipped cream.

Enjoy!

Helpful Tips to make Crock Pot Peach Cobbler:

  • You can use frozen, or canned peaches instead of fresh peaches. Don't use all the liquid in the canned peaches because the extra liquid will make the cobbler topping a little softer with less crunch on top. (I do recommend fresh peaches if they are in season though, they're flavor is just perfection)
  • Use a slow cooker liner, if you want for super easy clean up!

    Blueberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

Blueberry dump cake is the easiest cake recipe you’ll ever make. It’s moist and delicious! Make this 4-ingredient recipe for dessert tonight!

Blueberry dump cake is the easiest cake recipe you Blueberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

    What is dump cake?

When you need a “no-brainer” dessert recipe, look no further than dump cake. Baking this sweet treat is simpler than you could ever imagine!

Whether you make a dump cake blueberry, cherry, peach, or another flavor, the technique is always the same.
They require 3 or 4 ingredients, and 5 minutes to prep it for baking.

Making the cake looks like this:

Dump - Add pie filling, cake mix, and cubes of butter to a cake pan. Plus, fresh fruit for a little extra flavor.

    Bake
    Done!

Blueberry dump cake is the easiest cake recipe you Blueberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

The secret of this dessert is its convenience factor. You don’t even have to stir the ingredients together - it’s amazing!

It really is the best dessert for a busy home cook to make.

Plus, it’s a recipe that you can customize to your heart’s desire.

Dump cake can be made using any flavor of cake mix and pie filling that you like. You can even make them sugar-free!

Blueberry dump cake is the easiest cake recipe you Blueberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

    Making blueberry dump cake

As mentioned above, you only need 4 ingredients to make this cake recipe. Even better, it doesn’t matter what brand or type of cake mix you use.

Gluten-free and sugar-free cake mixes and pie fillings work just as perfectly as traditional ones do.

    INGREDIENTS
    • Cake mix - I use white cake mix. It’s also delicious with yellow cake.
    • Blueberry pie filling
    • Butter - I prefer to use unsalted butter, but salted will work
    • Fresh blueberries - It is best not to use frozen berries unless you thaw them first. Otherwise, the excess water may cause your cake to be soggy.

Cooking tips for the perfect cake

Making a blueberry dump cake is nearly impossible to mess up. However, to guarantee the best results, here are three important tips.

    • Grease the pan. Be sure to grease the pan well with butter or non-stick cooking spray. Otherwise, you will definitely have a difficult time removing slices from the pan.

    • Preheat the oven. If the oven isn’t hot enough, the cake will not bake evenly. It’s not a happy experience, and not a tasty cake, either. Please trust me on this.

Blueberry dump cake is the easiest cake recipe you Blueberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

    • Add ingredients in the order shown in the recipe.
It may not seem like the order of ingredients should matter, but it truly does make a difference.

    1. First, spread the blueberry filling into the bottom of the pan.
    2. Next, sprinkle all of the cake mix over the filling. Be sure to cover as much of the filling as you can.
    3. Scatter the cubes of butter evenly over the surface of the cake mix.
    4. Lastly, sprinkle the fresh blueberries over the top

Science is the reason that the order matters. Heavier ingredients (like the fresh blueberries) will sink during baking.

As a result, placing them at the top ensures that you will have blueberries throughout the cake, rather than all sitting on the bottom.

    Q&A

    • Can I make a crock pot dump cake?
    Absolutely!
Make the recipe exactly as shown below, except place everything into your crock pot instead of a pan.

To make it this way, grease the bottom and sides of the crock pot, then spread the blueberry pie filling in the bottom. Then, top with the cake mix, the butter, and then the fresh blueberries.

Cover and cook on high for 2 hours or low for 4 hours.

Blueberry dump cake is the easiest cake recipe you Blueberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

    • How should I serve it?
Blueberry dump cake is very similar to blueberry cobbler, at least in terms of texture. It’s perfectly delicious warm or cold.

I like to serve it individually in bowls, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream over the top.

    Strawberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

This Strawberry Dump Cake recipe is one of the easiest dessert recipes I have ever made. All you need are five simple ingredients and a few minutes of time. And, the end result is a delicious dessert that everyone will love.

recipe is one of the easiest dessert recipes I have ever made Strawberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

    Strawberry Dump Cake

So, you may have heard this Strawberry Dump Cake recipe referred to as a Canned Strawberry Pie Filling Cake. If you have, they are the same dessert known by two different names.

I'm not sure who decided to try dumping a bunch of ingredients in one pan and baking them. But, they were absolutely brilliant whoever they were.

If you're short on time and need a quick dessert, you can have this easy easy Strawberry Dump Cake recipe ready to go in the oven in just five minutes.

recipe is one of the easiest dessert recipes I have ever made Strawberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

How can you make a Strawberry Dump Cake?

For this recipe, you start with a box of white cake mix, two cans of strawberry pie filling, a little butter and sugar, and some fresh strawberries.

    • Grease a 9x13 baking dish with butter or non-stick cooking spray.

    • Add the pie filling, spread it in the bottom of the pan.

    • Sprinkle the cake mix over the pie filling.

    • Drizzle the cake mix with butter.

    • Sprinkle the sugar over top (this will make a yummy sweet crisp top).

    • Then top it all with fresh strawberries.

If you want to make it a little bit easier, you can leave out the fresh strawberries and the sugar if you want to. Or, you could substitute another type of fresh berries if you happen to have blueberries or raspberries instead.

You can always use a combination of two different fruits as well. So, try fresh sliced peaches on top for a peach strawberry dump cake. Or, why not try one can of peach pie filling and one can of strawberry pie filling. There are so many different combinations to try.

recipe is one of the easiest dessert recipes I have ever made Strawberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

Can I use a low sugar cake mix?

Yes, if you want to cut the sugar in this easy dump cake recipe, you can use a low-sugar cake mix instead of the traditional white cake mix that I used. It will work just as well and the sugar will be lower for those that are watching their sugar intake.

Can I make Chocolate Strawberry Dump Cake?

If you want to make this Strawberry Dump Cake recipe with a box of chocolate cake mix, you can do that. You can also use a box of yellow cake mix if that's what you have on hand. Or, why not try Devil's Food Cake or Red Velvet Cake for a truly decadent chocolate dessert?

Strawberry Dump Cake in the Crockpot

While I made this recipe in the oven, you can make this Canned Strawberry Pie Filling Cake in your Crockpot if you want to. You follow the same basic process.

You grease the Crockpot and then follow the same order. Pie filling, then cake mix, then butter and sugar and strawberries. Then, you cover it and cook on low for four hours. Or, cook on high for two hours.

recipe is one of the easiest dessert recipes I have ever made Strawberry Dump Cake + VIDEO

    Toppings for strawberry dump cake

We usually put a scoop of vanilla ice cream or homemade whipped cream on top when we make this.

But, you could top it with my Strawberry Ice Cream or even chocolate. Or, why not try making my Triple Berry Sangria Ice Cream?

    How can I store leftovers?

If you have leftovers when you make this Strawberry Dump Cake recipe, it's very simple to store them. Just cover the pan tightly and place it in the refrigerator for up to three days.

You can leave it on the counter for one to two days if you plan on eating the rest quickly.

If you want to store this for longer than three days, you can freeze it for up to three months.

Make sure that it is in a freezer-proof container and is tightly covered. Then, just defrost the dump cake in the refrigerator when you want to serve it.

If you want to enjoy your dump cake warm rather than cold or room temperature, you can reheat it in the microwave for about a minute. To reheat the entire cake, place it in the oven at 350F for about 20 minutes. Take it out and then serve it warm with your favorite ice cream.

    Southern Peach Cobbler + VIDEO

Southern Peach Cobbler is the perfect summer dessert! Fresh sweet peaches baked with a crispy cobbler topping. Make this recipe for dessert tonight!

Fresh sweet peaches baked with a crispy cobbler topping Southern Peach Cobbler + VIDEO

After 6 years of making this recipe I was so excited to have my 7-year-old prepare it. I cut the peaches and cut in the butter. She did the rest. So easy a kid can make it and perfect every time!

Living in Southwestern Florida for so many years I developed an appreciation for many Southern things (not really the south, but a lot of Southern exposure). One of which is Southern desserts such as pies, crisps, and cobblers.

None have stuck with me quite as much as this recipe that my friend Mary shared with me, long after I moved to Arizona.

The peach mixture is luscious and creamy.  The cobbler is absolutely divine.  It is crisp on the outside and cakey on the inside.  Served along side a scoop of vanilla ice cream or frozen banana ice cream and you'll be in heaven.

This cobbler transports me to a small Southern town, where your neighbor bakes you a fresh cobbler with peaches they picked off their tree.

You sit on your porch drinking iced tea watching the sunset.  Your kids play out front with the neighborhood kids and you haven't a worry in the world.

You leave your front door open during the day and sleep with the windows open at night.

You hear musical phrases such as "all ya'll", "fit to be tied" and "down yonder" where they are "fixin' to" do something and they don't think or consider...  They "reckon".

Such fond memories with every bite of this fabulous cobbler.  I know you will enjoy it as much as I do!  Chad and Munchkin are HUGE fans too.

This cobbler is calling to me in my dreams, so I reckon' I'll be fixin' to make another!

Tips for making southern peach cobbler

    • Be sure to adjust your oven temperature if you are using glass pans or dark pans. They cook faster, so reduce your temperature by 25°.
    • You can cut in flour with a pastry blender, a fork or 2 butter knives.

Kitchen equipment for making this dessert recipe:

    • 9x13 Glass Baking DishI have my favorites and this set is one of them. The 9x13 is perfect for casseroles and the smaller size is awesome for making 1/2 a casserole recipe.

prep time: 30 MINS   cook time: 30 MINS   total time: 60 mins

    Ingredients

    • 8 fresh peaches - peeled, pitted and sliced into thin wedges
    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
    • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
    For Cobbler Topping
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces
    • 1/2 cup boiling water
    FOR SPRINKLING
    • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F (if you are using a dark or glass pan - 425°F if you are using a light color pan).
    2. In a large bowl, combine peaches, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup light brown sugar, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly, and pour into a 2 quart baking dish. Bake in preheated oven for 10 minutes.
    3. Meanwhile, prepare cobbler topping: in a large bowl, combine flour, sugars, baking powder, and salt.
    4. Blend in butter with your fingertips, or a pastry blender, until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in water until just combined.
    5. Remove peaches from oven, and drop spoonfuls of topping over them.
    6. Sprinkle entire cobbler with the sugar. Set your baking dish on a baking sheet (this cobbler can drip into the oven otherwise).  Bake until topping is golden, about 30 minutes.
    7. Top with ice cream if desired. Serve and enjoy!!
