is a glorious dish that starts with tender pan One-Pot Chicken Alfredo

I have to tell you this Chicken Alfredo recipe has me giddy with excitement. Traditional Alfredo is a creamy Parmesan sauce made with cream, butter and Parmesan cheese. I really love putting a spin on traditional recipes to create my family favorites. And you certainly know by now that simple recipes are king in my house.

This simple one-pot recipe starts by cooking the chicken and then building a delicious Chardonnay Alfredo sauce on it. Next, the pasta is added directly to the pan and the pasta soaks up all the flavors of the scrumptious sauce, creating the most incredibly rich and creamy Alfredo sauce you have ever eaten. Prepared with Fettucine and chicken, for the easiest dinner ever.

I like to share our dinners when I am recipe developing. I package it up and send out texts to friends and family to come share in the deliciousness. But this one was so good Chad insisted we keep it for ourselves.

Helpful Tips to make One-Pot Chicken Alfredo:

  • The sauce will thicken as it cools. If sauce gets too thick, you can add a splash of wine or chicken broth and give it a stir. It will loosen the sauce up.
  • If you are sensitive to alcohol, you can substitute white grape juice or chicken stock. But, I highly recommend using entwine Chardonnay.

One-Pot Chicken Alfredo

One-Pot Chicken Alfredo is a glorious dish that starts with tender pan-fried chicken breast finished in a luxurious cream sauce that will blow your mind. A simple recipe, the fettuccine is cooked right in the sauce in the same skillet!
prep time: 10 MINScook time: 20 MINStotal time: 30 mins

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup (8-ounces) Chardonnay (white wine)
  • 1 cup (8-ounces) chicken stock
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine pasta (or whatever pasta you prefer)
  • 4 ounces fresh grated Parmesan cheese, about 2 cups
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • (optional) chopped fresh parsley to garnish

Instructions

  1. Warm a large skillet over medium-high heat, add butter. Once butter is melted add chicken and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook until browned, about 10 minutes. Add wine to skillet, use a rubber spatula to scrape the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Add broth and cream. Stir to combine.
  2. Add uncooked pasta to skillet. Stir to combine and coat pasta in the sauce (the pasta will cook right in the sauce absorbing the sauce and becoming incredibly flavorful). Bring to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, cover and cook 7-9 minutes until pasta is cooked al dente (with a bite to it). If you are using long pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, etc) you will need to stir every minute or so after 7 minutes to make sure the pasta is combined and cooking in the sauce.
  4. Once pasta is cooked al dente, remove from heat. Stir in Parmesan cheese and nutmeg. If necessary, add salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with fresh parsley (or basil would be good too).
  5. Serve and enjoy!

DONNA'S NOTES

  1. The sauce will thicken as it cools. If sauce gets too thick, you can add a splash of wine or chicken broth and give it a stir. It will loosen the sauce up.
  2. If you are sensitive to alcohol, you can substitute white grape juice or chicken stock. But, I highly recommend using entwine Chardonnay.

I love that the pasta cooks right in the pot and absorbs all of the flavors from the ingredients you add.

I created this new recipe especially for an event Chad and I presented at last year and we decided that we really wanted to take it to the next level so Chad and I also created a video for you.

Let me know how you are liking the videos. They are a lot of fun and we are excited to keep doing them.

Now, let me tell you... This is TRULY my favorite One-Pot ever posted on our site! {Leave room for another one that is in the cookbook that would give this recipe a run for it's money.}

The addition of chicken and herbs and spices come together with the chicken stock and chardonnay to create an amazing flavor combination.

The fresh spinach is cooked in the pot and more it stirred in at the end to give you cooked and wilted spinach. It is truly the perfect American-Italian dinner!

Did you listen to the video? I suggest you leave the music on, it is such a happy song it will make you want to jump up and go make the pasta.

Pot Cheese Italian Pasta and Chicken is a rich and savory dish bursting with your favorite One-Pot Cheesy Italian Pasta and Chicken (with VIDEO)

Helpful Tips to make One-Pot Cheesy Italian Pasta and Chicken:

  • Dried Italian Seasoning is a fabulous convenience ingredient. If you do not keep it on hand, combine 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1 teaspoon rosemary, 1/2 teaspoon oregano and 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme.
  • This dish is just spicy enough to make your tongue tingle. For a very mild sauce, reduce the red pepper flakes to 1/2 teaspoon.
  • I know some people are sensitive to alcohol. The wine adds a fabulous rich buttery flavor and a bright citrusiness to the pasta. If you can use the chardonnay, I highly recommend it. However, you can substitute with chicken stock, white grape juice, or lemon water (1/2 cup fresh lemon juice and 1/2 cup water).

What you will need to make One-Pot Cheesy Italian Pasta and Chicken:

  • 4 Quart Braising Pan - this is my favorite for my one pot wonders. The spaghetti fits inside so you can put the lid on.
  • Tongs - I love this set of 3. I use every pair of them. They are so handy and grip amazingly well!

Enjoy!

One-Pot Cheesy Italian Pasta and Chicken

One-Pot Cheese Italian Pasta and Chicken is a rich and savory dish bursting with your favorite flavors! This simple recipe features a creamy sun-dried tomato sauce that is cooked right into the pasta in this amazing one-pot dish. Toss it all in a pot and let it cook. It's so easy that it just about cooks itself. Now that's my kind of meal!!!

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces baby spinach leaves, divided
  • 1 cup sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil and Italian herbs, drained (about 7 ounces)
  • 1 large yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 pound uncooked boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1/2" bite size pieces)
  • 6 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 pound dry linguine
  • 2 teaspoons dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 4 cups (32 ounces) reduced sodium chicken stock
  • 1 cup (8 ounces) chardonnay wine
  • 4 ounces fresh Parmesan cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 of the spinach with the tomatoes, onion, chicken, garlic, linguine, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper in a 5-quart Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Pour chicken stock and wine over top. Cover and bring to a boil.
  2. Cook 7-9 minutes until pasta is al dente (with a bite to it). Toss pasta with tongs occasionally to keep the pasta from sticking to the bottom of the pot. You will still have some liquid in the pan when the pasta is done cooking. This is going to make the base for our delicious cheese sauce.
  3. Turn off the heat and add the cheese to the pasta. Toss pasta with tongs until the cheese melts into the pasta. Toss in remaining spinach.
  4. Serve and enjoy!

Pizza In a Pan

This scrumptious Pizza Pasta Skillet is a simple one One-Pot Pizza Pasta Skillet
My dad's mom is from Naples, Italy so growing up we enjoyed many recipes from the old country. Food brings people together and that was exactly the case at my grandparents house. There seemed to always be a pot of sauce on the stove and something delicious cooking. And when there wasn't one of our favorite things to do was to explore the neighborhood and walk down to the deli and grab a "slice". The Italian deli by grandma's house had the best of all things Italy, but the pizza was out of this world!

Brilliantly colorful pizza Margherita with its gorgeous green (basil), white (mozzarella cheese) and red (tomato sauce) ingredients was created and named after the first queen of Italy. It totally reminds me of my grandma!

I took the classic pizza Margherita and transformed it into the most scrumptious one-pot pasta dish. It is loaded it up with hot sausage and mini pepperoni, corkscrew cellentani pasta, Classico® Tomato Basil pasta sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

It is absolutely the best one-pot pizza dish we have ever tasted. The vibrant flavor of the sauce really elevates the dish. The entire family devoured this one and you will too.

Cajun Shrimp Pasta + Video

Cajun Shrimp Pasta features tender-crisp veggies smothered in a Cajun parmesan sauce! Make this quick and easy recipe in just 25 minutes!

crisp veggies smothered in a Cajun parmesan sauce Cajun Shrimp Pasta + Video

One-pot recipes help keep me out of the kitchen so I can enjoy all of the beautiful weather in the summer.

They are a quick and easy way to have a delicious dinner on the table fast.

Have you tried my One-Pot Chicken Parmesan Pasta? You can make it with a few simple ingredients. And, it comes together in one skillet.

Or, my One-Pot Jalapeno Popper Chicken is packed with flavor and perfect for the entire family.

Finally, this One-Pot Jambalaya Pasta is another favorite Cajun shrimp recipe.

Cajun Shrimp Pasta Recipe Tips

  • To quickly defrost, place the one pound frozen shrimp in a fine-mesh sieve or colander.  Place this sieve in a large bowl of cold tap water for 10 minutes.

  • After 10 minutes, replace the water in the bowl with new cold tap water and resubmerge the shrimp.  Let shrimp sit an additional 10- 20 minutes.  Now, it's time to make your Cajun Shrimp Pasta.

  • The easier way to defrost your shrimp is to remove your frozen shrimp to a covered bowl and let them defrost in the refrigerator overnight.

  • Cook your shrimp with the tails on because the tail shells contain flavor that seeps out and we get more robust shrimp flavor.  You can remove the tails from cooked and resting shrimp.

  • The spice level for this Cajun Shrimp Pasta recipe is customizable.  I find 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper to be on the spicy side as you would expect from a Cajun pasta.   To customize the heat level, add 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning to the shrimp then add 1-3 teaspoons Cajun seasoning. If you don’t like heat and want this very kid-friendly, omit the cayenne pepper.

  • If you aren’t sure how much Cajun seasoning to use then start with less then add more to taste at the end of cooking because you can always add more heat but it is hard to take away!

  • Add reserved pasta water or heavy cream after you stir the pasta, shrimp, veggies, and sauce together until you reach the consistency you prefer.  For an extra decadent pasta, add additional heavy cream.

  • Garnishing your individual servings of pasta with freshly grated Parmesan, lime juice, and fresh parsley enhances the flavors and takes this pasta to a whole new level!

Frequently asked questions

Can you freeze a pasta recipe with shrimp?

Yes, you can freeze your leftovers if you have them. You may notice a slight change in the texture.

But, it's possible to extend the life of your leftovers this way. Just place the leftovers in the freezer in a container with a tightly fitting lid. Use them within 6 months.

How to devein shrimp

If you've never deveined shrimp before, you will need to for this Cajun Shrimp Pasta recipe.

Once you remove the shells, make a shallow slice at the back of the shrimp. Then, carefully pull the vein out using the point of the knife.

It's easiest to use medium uncooked shrimp that have been peeled and deveined.  Buying prepared shrimp makes your job a snap because all you have to do is defrost the shrimp.

crisp veggies smothered in a Cajun parmesan sauce Cajun Shrimp Pasta + Video

How to prevent rubbery shrimp

If your shrimp are rubbery, they have been overcooked. Cook shrimp until they have curled into the shape of the letter C.

If they are straight, they aren't done yet. If you have cooked them until they are curled into an O, they are overcooked.

Equipment for making Cajun Shrimp Pasta
  • Wide Shallow Pan - a 4-quart braiser is one of my favorite pans. It is wide and shallow and perfect for one-pot recipes! Using a wide pan gives more surface area so your pot will heat more evenly and cook faster.
  • Garlic Press - One of my most used kitchen tools! I received mine as a gift years ago and I can't imagine why I never had one. It minces garlic with one squeeze, with the peel still on!
  • Cheese Grater - I am a huge proponent of FRESHLY grated cheese as opposed to bagged shredded cheeses.  Using freshly grated cheeses saves money, tastes better, and MELTS better.
Enjoy!

With love from our simple kitchen to yours.

  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning spice mix, divided
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice, divided
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine pasta
  • 3 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 1 1/2 bell peppers (any color combo), thinly sliced, then halved
  • 1/2 large red onion, sliced, then halved
  • 2 tablespoon butter, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt +salt for water
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 (14-ounce) can fire-roasted diced tomatoes, well-drained
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional Garnishes:
  • freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • fresh parsley
  • lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Add shrimp to a medium bowl and toss with 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 4 minced garlic cloves. Set aside.
  2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a small handful of salt and pasta. Cook until al dente, about 8-12 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water before draining. Set aside.
  3. While the pasta cooks, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and bell peppers, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper and cook until peppers reach desired crisp-tenderness, approximately 5 minutes. Remove to a plate.
  4. To the same skillet (don’t wipe it out), melt 1 tablespoon butter and one tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add shrimp mixture and cook 3-4 minutes, just until shrimp are opaque and cooked through. Scrape shrimp and garlic/juices into a bowl. Set aside. After shrimp is cool enough to handle, you can chop tails off if you desire.
  5. To the same skillet (don’t wipe out), melt 1 tablespoon butter with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Sprinkle in flour and 1-3 teaspoons Cajun seasoning (3 teaspoons for more heat), and optional cayenne pepper (if you want it spicy) and cook, while stirring, for 2 minutes, then turn heat to low. Slowly whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring constantly until smooth. Stir in diced tomatoes.
  6. Turn heat to medium-high and bring the sauce to a simmer. Simmer until thickened, stirring occasionally, approximately 3-5 minutes.
  7. Reduce heat to low and stir in lime juice followed by Parmesan cheese until melted. Stir in the cooked shrimp, vegetables, and pasta until well coated in sauce, adding additional reserved pasta water or heavy cream if needed to reach desired consistency. Taste and season with additional salt, pepper and/or cayenne pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, and lime juice (optional).
COOK'S NOTES
  1. I find 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper to be on the spicy side as you would expect from a Cajun pasta.
  2. If you are sensitive to heat or want to make the dish very kid-friendly then use 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning with the shrimp and only 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning with the roux and omit the cayenne pepper.
  3. At the end of cooking if you want more heat you can always add more, but you can’t take it away.

One-Pot Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta

One-Pot Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta recipe is the stuff that dreams are made of, and the fact that it’s all in one pan makes it even better!
recipe is the stuff that dreams are made of One-Pot Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta

I’m Jacqueline, and I blog over at Go Go Go Gourmet- my mantra is all about “less effort, more taste,” and I have definitely achieved that with this incredibly simple, but absolutely delicious pasta dish that is a guaranteed family dinnertime hit. I’m so happy to be bringing my recipe philosophy over to my friends Donna and Chad here at TSRI!

I have been a seafood lover for about as long as I can remember. When I was younger and would go out to dinner with my parents, my dinner of choice was almost always a shrimp cocktail.

recipe is the stuff that dreams are made of One-Pot Creamy Garlic Shrimp Pasta

As I got older, my love of all things seafood grew, which is equaled by two things- an affinity for all things pasta and a hatred of doing dishes. This creamy garlic shrimp pasta hits it out of the park for me- a luscious creamy cheese sauce develops after cooking pasta straight in milk, cream, and water.  No roux needed here!

HELPFUL TIPS TO MAKE ONE POT CREAMY GARLIC PARMESAN SHRIMP PASTA:

  • The amount of liquid that you use in this will depend on how fast your pasta cooks. I started off with 1 1/2 cups of each liquid, but I ended up adding another cup and a half when I stirred in the Parmesan to get the dish creamier.
  • Add milk or cream until you get the texture that you prefer- thicker vs. thinner. You can substitute the shrimp in this recipe if you prefer- rotisserie chicken would be outstanding. The amount you choose to put in is also flexible and entirely up to you!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE ONE POT CREAMY GARLIC PARMESAN SHRIMP PASTA:

  • Wide Shallow Pan - a 4-quart braiser is one of my favorite pans. It is wide and shallow and perfect for one-pot recipes! Using a wide pan gives more surface area so your pot will heat more evenly and cook faster.
  • Garlic Press-One of my moist used kitchen tools! I received mine as a gift years ago and I can't imagine why I never had one. It minces garlic with one squeeze, with the peel still on!

One-Pot Creamy Garlic Parmesan Shrimp Pasta
SERVES 6   |  ACTIVE TIME 5 MIN   |  TOTAL TIME 20 Min

3 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups water
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
2 teaspoons kosher salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper, or to taste
1 pound angel hair pasta
1 cup parmesan
1 pound jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 tablespoons chopped parsley

In a wide deep skillet (I love this 4-qt braiser), melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and saute until lightly golden.

Pour the water, milk, cream, salt, and pepper in the skillet and whisk together. Bring to a simmer, then add in the angel hair pasta. Cover and cook until almost al dente, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the Parmesan cheese. Top with the shrimp and sprinkle with parsley.  Re-cover and simmer for an additional 5 minutes, until shrimp is cooked through, pasta is tender, and sauce is thickened. Serve immediately.
