Hearty Beef and Sausage Chili

Hearty Beef and Sausage Chili comes together in just Hearty Beef and Sausage Chili

Hearty Beef and Sausage Chili comes together in just 15 minutes, using only 6 ingredients. Truly one of the easiest chili recipes ever . It is a perfect anytime chili with the right amount of heat, and it is bursting with flavor. With a recipe this good that can be put together on a lazy day, it is a keeper in my book!

We are so excited to be partnering with our friends at BUSH’S® Beans to bring you a scrumptious simple recipe with BUSH’S® Kidney Beans in Mild Chili Sauce!!!

I always keep our pantry stocked with beans because they are so easy to incorporate into everyday meals. We would happily eat these kidney beans just as they are out of the can. Having them on hand makes it so easy to toss together a great meal.

With fall peeking its head around the corner we are craving soups already. But being it is still hot out I want something a little lighter. BUSH’S® Kidney Beans in Mild Chili Sauce are premium quality and perfectly light and saucy without being too heavy and are something that I really feel good about feeding my family.

Fire roasted tomatoes and flavorful chili beans give this chili an incredible slow cooked flavor and the jalapenos give it just the right amount of heat. This recipe is perfect to feed a crowd and it doubles perfectly. To double the recipe, cook it up in a Dutch oven or heavy bottomed 8 quart pot and then transfer it to a slow cooker to serve. Your friends and family will never believe you whipped this up in just 15 minutes.

A family friendly recipe that is perfect for fall and an crowd pleaser, this is certainly going to be our game day staple this year. So, what could possibly be better than that? For a little extra kick – try BUSH’S® new Kidney Beans in Spicy Chili Sauce!

Enjoy!

Easy Slow Cooker Chili

This simple and easy recipe is perfect to feed a crowd! Our HEARTY slow cooker chili is fully loaded; packed with meat, beans and just the right amount of heat to make your tongue tingle. Cooked in your crock pot all day or in just 4 hours. It's up to you, it doesn't get much easier than that!
This simple and easy recipe is perfect to feed a crowd Easy Slow Cooker Chili
Our annual Christmas party is such a blast.  After years of spending all day making the perfect little appetizers and finger foods, I decided last year I was going to simplify.

A crockpot meal is exactly what we needed.  With temperatures in Phoenix dipping into the frigid 60's in December {insert sarcasm}, I thought a warm and hearty chili would be perfect!

This recipe starts with 4 pounds of meat!  That is some hearty chili.  Hot Italian sausage and ground beef create a flavorful chili with kidney and pinto beans cooked in a smoky tomato base.

Add the perfect amount of heat and you have the best ever crockpot chili!

We served this at our Christmas party and our guests devoured it.  We served it with some easy cheese bread and it made the perfect party meal.

No muss, no fuss. An excellent meal to serve at any occasion, prep and step away.  Serve when ready.  This chili will keep on a warm setting for hours.

Freezing:  Cool chili to room temp and fill a freezer safe container 2/3 full with chili.  It freezes for several months.  To serve:  defrost and add water to thin it out as needed.  Reheat and enjoy!

There is something for everyone in this fabulous 25 Best Ever Soups and Stews (With Video)

When I first fell in love with cooking, it was the ability to create incredible flavors that most excited me about getting into the kitchen.

Soup recipes are the perfect place to experiment with building layers of rich flavor.

We are a divided house when it comes to soups. Chad loves brothy soups and I love stick-to-your-ribs soups.

I figure, if I am going to eat soup, it should be hearty enough to be a meal. To keep everyone happy, I make both brothy and hearty soups, and so lucky for you, that means you get recipes for both.

Grab your spoon and get your soup on!

You are going to love these.  Get started cooking and maybe you can try them all by winter!  We might just have a new edition for you then.

Mexican Rice Casserole (One-Skillet) + VIDEO

Mexican Rice Casserole is a simple recipe that comes together in One-Skillet in just 30 minutes. A one pot meal featuring your favorite Mexican flavors that cooks all in one pan. You can't beat that! It is a quick and easy weeknight dinner option with little clean up!

is a simple recipe that comes together in One Mexican Rice Casserole (One-Skillet) + VIDEO
This recipe has been a family favorite for several years now. It is either on the menu or in the freezer ready to pull out for quick lunches every week.

I can not tell you how many days have slipped by and I was able to pull something together from the pantry. One of my favorites is this 5-Ingredient Lazy Day Chili.

I put this together one day when I didn't have anything ready for dinner one night. I grabbed a few cans from the pantry and some ground beef and I whipped up the most amazing chili.

It is so good and so easy that it is now my go-to chili and everyone who has ever tried it goes crazy over it.

Our Mexican Rice Casserole received 4 thumbs up from our very picky 6 year old (apparently the toes count too, who knew?). NOTE: We originally shared this post almost 3 years ago. She is almost 9 now and it is still one of her favorites!

I even packed up a One Skillet Mexican Rice Casserole meal to take to one of our best friends tomorrow.

Munchkin informed me that she needed her own meal and I had to take a bowl out of the meal we were delivering for her. Apparently my daughter had plans for leftovers. LOL

I actually make this quite often and let the casserole cool for a while and then scoop 3 tablespoon portions of it onto a baking sheet topped with a silpat mat and flash freeze them for 4 hours to overnight. Then I toss them in a 1 gallon freezer bag for easy lunches. It is ALWAYS in my freezer and my favorite meal to bring to friends!

Perfectly seasoned ground beef comes together with tomatoes, black beans, corn, jalapenos and rice to create this absolutely simple recipe that will knock your socks off. Smoky, spicy and so hearty.

Our simple one pot Mexican meal is sure to be on your table again and again!

Helpful Tips to make One Skillet Mexican Rice Casserole:

  • Why New Mexico Chile Powder? It has a deep dark reddish brown color and features an earthy, sweet flavor and subtle, spicy heat. It is mildly hot and absolutely perfect in this sauce. It creates a truly authentic flavor! New Mexico Chili Powder can be found in the international aisle in the bulk bags or on Amazon. if you are afraid the heat will be too much you can use half New Mexico Chili Powder and 1/2 regular chili powder.
  • Using fire-roasted tomatoes in place of crushed or diced tomatoes gives recipes a depth of flavor that makes you think it cooked all day long.
  • If you prefer a less spicy dish, you can substitute the diced jalapenos with green chiles.
  • Our favorite toppings are a dollop of sour cream or guacamole.

One Skillet Mexican Rice Casserole

One Skillet Mexican Rice Casserole is a simple recipe that comes together in just 30 minutes. A one pot meal featuring your favorite Mexican flavors that cooks all in one pan. You can't beat that! It is a quick and easy weeknight dinner option with little clean up!
prep time: 15 MINScook time: 15 MINStotal time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  • 2 teaspoons New Mexico chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 (15 ounce) can low-sodium black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can fire roasted tomatoes with garlic
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) can niblet corn, rinsed and drained (or 1 cup frozen corn)
  • 1 (4 ounce) can fire roasted diced jalapenos
  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 8 ounces Colby jack cheese, shredded
  • optional garnish: fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. Warm a large (10") skillet over medium high heat. Add ground beef and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook until beef is cooked through. Drain excess drippings if necessary (I had very little drippings and did not have to drain). Sprinkle spices over the beef (chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, pepper and remaining 1 teaspoon salt). Stir to combine.
  2. Add black beans, tomatoes, corn, jalapenos and rice to skillet. Stir to combine. Add water. Stir to combine. Cover and bring to a boil. Once mixture is boiling, stir well making sure there are no bits stuck to the bottom. Reduce to simmer.
  3. Cook 15 minutes or until rice is cooked through. Remove cover half way through and stir well, unstick any bits stuck on the bottom of the pan.
  4. Remove skillet from the heat, sprinkle with cheese. Place skillet under broiler until cheese is completely melted, about 2 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle with cilantro. Serve and enjoy!

DONNA'S NOTES

  1. If you prefer a less spicy dish, you can substitute the diced jalapenos with green chiles. Another option is to serve with a dollop of sour cream on top. The cream will mellow out the heat in the jalapenos.

Some days are busier than others and most days I can barely spare 30 minutes for dinner.  Not to mention I think I have the pickiest family ever.

I have a list of family approved go-to flavors. You know burgers, pizza, tacos and a few others that are always a winner.

I love taking our old favorites and putting a little spin on them to create a whole new dish with a little imagination (and help from the freezer section).

I got hooked on Alexia  Foods a few years ago. I was searching the freezer section for a little help with dinner and I was drawn to them because they are all natural and I am trying to make smarter food choices for my family. I first tried their sweet potato fries, I have quite the sweet potato thing.
