Roasted nuts become rich and extra flavorful with a super crunch How to Roast Nuts

Golden roasted nuts are rich and flavorful with an extra crunch! It just takes a few minutes to roast nuts and helps elevate the flavors of your recipes immensely!

I love toasted almonds, pecans and pine nuts in so many dishes that I like to make a huge batch of them. I store them in the freezer for snacking, salads and desserts! Not to mention I love to have toasted nuts (walnuts or pine nuts) on hand to whip up a really quick pesto in my food processor. I have the best pesto recipe ever. I will have to share it with you someday.

Roasted nuts are great for a quick savory snack. If you really want to jazz these roasted nuts up, you can melt a couple of tablespoons of butter with a mixture of your favorite seeds and spices. Then toss the nuts in the butter mixture.

For a fast, sweet snack, melt 1 tablespoon butter, add 1 tablespoon honey and a pinch of cayenne. Add 2 cups of toasted nuts and toss them together.

Of course, they are perfect as they are. I also love to toast almonds and add them to recipes like Cranberry Sauce, 3-Ingredient Brownies, Cranberry Apple Crockpot Oatmeal and Best Ever Chocolate Chip Cookie. They add great flavor!

No matter your preference, you are going to love them!

Enjoy!

How to Roast Nuts

Roasted nuts become rich and extra flavorful with a super crunch! This easy method takes a few minutes to roast nuts and helps elevate the flavors of your recipes immensely!

Ingredients

  • Almonds
  • Pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Spread desired amount of whole nuts in an even layer on a baking sheet. If you have a pan full it may take longer to roast them.
  3. Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 8-12 minutes, until they are lightly browned and smell 'toasty'. Stir once halfway through cooking time. Smaller batches will cook faster than larger batches.
  4. Remove tray from the oven and transfer the roasted nuts to a plate right away so they can cool down.
  5. If you would like to peel the nuts, place them in a kitchen towel and rub the nuts. The skins will come right off.

DONNA'S NOTES

  1. Small nuts like pine nuts and pistachios will cook much quicker. Check them every 2 minutes or so, they should only take 4-5 minutes to roast. Hazelnuts can take 12-14 minutes to roast.
  2. If you are cooking a small batch (a handful), you can toss them in a dry skillet on the stove top. Stir the nuts frequently to avoid burnt spots.
  3. Chop into your desired size after roasting.
